General introduction：
The department of gastric surgery is featured in the comprehensive treatment and clinical research of gastric cancer. There are two wards and 80 beds with 13 doctors and 20 nurses in it. We provide not only minimally invasive surgery and functional preservation surgery for early gastric cancer, but also comprehensive treatment for advanced gastric cancer, and conversion therapy for stage IV gastric cancer. We are one of the first in China to perform laparoscopic radical gastrectomy, neoadjuvant chemotherapy and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
Our Expertise：
Around 1200 operations of gastric cancer are performed in our department each year,，which ranks the first in Zhejiang province for more than 10 years. We lead in the number and quality of operations, and we have developed our own surgical style. A series of new technologies and projects have been carried out, including Da Vinci robotic surgery, pylorus-preserving radical gastrectomy and other new technologies. At same time, we are skilled in some original techniques including anterior approach duodenal non-dissociation laparoscopic lymphatic dissection and proximal gastrectomy with Giraffe anastomosis. With a complete stomach MDT team, we diagnose and treat stomach diseases in a multidisciplinary way which plays a demonstration role in eastern China.
Professor Cheng Xiangdong, the academic leader of the department and vice president of the hospital, is the director of the upper gastrointestinal diagnosis and treatment research center of Zhejiang province. He has won the first prize in the national surgical competition for three times and has made speeches and surgical demonstrations at the international conferences many times. Our young experts have also won several prizes in the national surgical video competition.
Our Mission:
We have established the training demonstration base and the popularization education base for gastric cancer of the Chinese Anti-cancer Association, as well as the collaborative diagnosis and treatment center for gastric cancer. We have undertaken a number of national, provincial major scientific research projects and participated in and initiate a number of international and domestic multicenter clinical trials. We host a series of international and national academic conferences each year and also open a monthly training course on gastric cancer treatment in the surgical craftsman workshop, which provides a standardized surgical demonstration for colleagues from all over the world.
